first week
our first week as a company actually building a product was one of definite highs and lows. the highs pretty much revolved around the relationship we've built with Pivotal and starting to actually work in their offices. the lows involved a continuingly difficult situation with our ad / branding shop who have taken a stance that our new naming effort requires a scope change.
the big challenge for me is managing the project and the product. its apparent that i have some strong ideas and together with jonathan's approach and connections, we should be able to execute on some of them. however, the big trick is going to be managing the priority with which these things will be built and the urge to go out and explore all these avenues. i think that now, we need to FOCUS and not consider anything new, knowing that the pipeline is full.
the next trick is going to be managing the design and build. do i know what i'm doing? well, i feel pretty good about knowing what works and what i don't like and i'm doing some good research on the topic. AND we have surrounded ourselves with a really solid team of service people, people who can really help us make this thing as good as it should be.
the next thing is the name. we gotta get this done. i'm really getting happy with a couple, including vin3050, supervine and pourpeople. we own 14 names at this point so we have some nice choices that aren't going away. i have a framework for looking at them and need to put them in it so that we can at least do some of the work that sherrie and steven are not interested in re-doing.
so enough of this. more later.
